Isolation and Characterization of Rhizosphere Bacteria

The isolation and characterization of rhizosphere bacteria involve collecting soil samples from the rhizosphere (the region of soil influenced by plant roots), isolating bacteria from these samples through various techniques such as serial dilution and plating, and characterizing them based on their morphological, biochemical, and genetic properties. This characterization helps in understanding the diversity, function, and potential applications of rhizosphere bacteria in agriculture, environmental remediation, and other fields.

Goals and Objectives:

To isolate and characterize the rhizosphere microorganisms, and understand if they have any beneficial interactions with the planta.

Expected Outcomes:
  • Explain the principles and techniques used for the isolation of rhizosphere microorganisms.
  • Evaluate the physiological and biochemical characteristics of isolated rhizosphere microorganisms.
  • Analyze the diversity of rhizosphere microorganisms using various microbiological techniques.
Requirements from Participants:
  • Basic understanding of biology.
  • Willingness to conduct experiments and analyze data systematically.
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and communicate findings effectively.

No. of Participants: 10

Registration Fee: INR 3000

Note: After project completion, students will receive a certificate from Jain Deemed to be University - School of Sciences and Knowledgeum Academy.
