Shaping Responsible Digital Citizens at Knowledgeum Academy

27 November 2024

Knowledgeum Academy recently conducted an engaging session on Digital Citizenship for DP1 learners, led by Ms. Rajvi Trivedi, Director of Sattva - A Space for Lifelong Learning. The session emphasised critical thinking, media literacy, and responsible online behaviour, encouraging learners to reflect on their online actions and assumptions. Through discussions and activities, learners explored topics like information verification, the impact of social media on personal choices, and responsible online commenting. A notable highlight was the "Fact vs. Opinion" analysis, which sparked debates on media influence and responsible citizenship, with learners reflecting on statements like, "The media tells us who the most deserving candidate is." The session also underscored environmental consciousness by using recycled paper for activity sheets, aligning with the academy’s sustainability values. As one learner aptly noted, "Technology is just a tool. What matters is how we use it to shape our world." By pledging to be more mindful of their digital footprint, learners embraced the idea that true digital citizenship involves conscious, empathetic, and informed engagement. This initiative reflects Knowledgeum Academy’s commitment to preparing learners for academic and real-world success in a connected digital age.
