How does IB help students in future?

Researchers have developed a set of teaching methods and curriculum frameworks for IB based best educational practices around the world, including those of India, Japan, and Europe.

An IB student, then, is required to come up with practical solutions for real-world challenges. This is a student-focused and learner-centric approach. She/he is guided to be responsible for their own learning. The problem-solving ability is fostered in the students right from primary to diploma programme.

IB students also have competitive advantages of getting into top colleges and universities in India and abroad. Students have the freedom to choose a subject of their liking. This gives them the opportunity to cultivate an in-depth understanding and knowledge of that subject.

IB focuses on making learners better communicators and inquirers. It helps students become independent and critical thinkers. IB does more than just academics and incorporates arts as well as science.

Providing students with international awareness and strong academic, social, and emotional characteristics is the purpose of IB. The curriculum enables them to understand various global issues of significance and to be prepared for higher education.

The IB School focuses on improving the horizons of students regardless of their cultural and racial background. Students gain familiarity with the whole world in a classroom. They are taught to appreciate everyone. They promote positive academic mindsets in students that develop intelligence, self-confidence and a sense of belongingness, as well as care and love for others, thus, resulting in a positive academic behavior.

It is essential that IB teachers constantly participate in professional development activities to be aware about the prevailing educational practices and new thinking. This creates a sense of belongingness in their students to act ethically.

In addition to being recognized worldwide, IB programmes ease the transition of students whose families relocate, thereby ensuring that their education is not negatively affected by the move. The interdisciplinary method of teaching empowers students to take on global responsibilities.

Students from IB schools are more likely to volunteer in service-learning projects, in and out of school, than their peers from non-IB schools. They possess a 'growth' mindset rather than a 'fixed' mindset. The IB curriculum also emphasizes on independent reasoning and research, right from the primary years.

Students at International Baccalaureate Schools learn about the concepts independently by observing nature and taking notes on real-life issues around us. This improves their analytical and reasoning capabilities.

The ability to excel in academic subjects while enjoying a breadth and depth of knowledge, the ability to study at least two languages and the chance to explore the nature of knowledge through the programme's unstructured way of presenting information is a boon for the students.

It follows an unconventional method to develop students into global citizens who are critical and compassionate thinkers, conscious of the shared humanity that binds all people together.

In a global study of IB alumni, it was found that IB programmes could profoundly influence the lives of students in a positive way.
